Producer’s Letter

I’m Horie Reki, the producer of the hololive OFFICIAL CARD GAME.

This letter goes out to all of you who play the English Edition of the hololive OFFICIAL CARD GAME (referred to below as “holoca”).

This isn’t a translated version of the Japanese Edition’s producer letter. Instead, we’d like to talk about where the English Edition has been and where it’s headed.

Bloom Cup DX 26 Final Challenge

Over two days on October 11 and 12, we hosted the “Bloom Cup DX 26 Final Challenge” in Akihabara, Tokyo.

On the 12th, we live streamed the tournament for the first time for the English Edition. The energy in the venue and the excitement in the stream were every bit as equally intense.

Even from the venue, I could clearly feel the energy coming through from the other side of the screen.

The English Edition is steadily growing as a competitive game, and these two days showed us just how far it has come. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who took part and everyone who tuned in to the stream.

Exstreamer Cup 26-27 (English Edition) Season

Starting next year, the English Edition will also have its own Exstreamer Cup Qualifiers and World Grand Prix, with six venues planned.

Until now, distance has kept English Edition players from joining a competitive season on the same scale as the Japanese Edition. We don’t expect six venues to remove that barrier completely, but we’re offering this as a first step.

World Championship

On October 12, during the broadcast of the Japanese Edition’s “Exstreamer Cup 25-26 Final,” we announced the “World Championship,” a joint event for the Japanese and English Editions.

Since helping launch holoca, I’ve had one goal: let hololive fans share the same experience, no matter what language they speak or where they live. I believed the hololive OFFICIAL CARD GAME could make that happen.

The World Championship will bring us much closer to that goal. Players from the Japanese and English Editions will compete on the same stage, in the same venue.

Experiences Unique to the English Edition

In both product lineup and competitive season, the English and Japanese Editions will be growing closer together. That said, we don’t intend to make the English Edition exactly the same as the Japanese one.

For casual tournaments and side events, we’ll keep working together with the talents, as we always have, to shape events that fit the English Edition’s players and their circumstances.

How people play and come together varies from region to region. Rather than smoothing those differences out, we’ll make the most of them.

In Closing

The English Edition of holoca isn’t an add-on to the Japanese Edition. It has its own community and play styles that grew out of it. All 89 players who earned their spots and traveled to Akihabara, and everyone who watched the stream, are all part of what makes up that community.

holoca will continue to champion “Comp-Creation”: competing alongside our friends and co-creating with everyone.
